David established McConnell Property in 1997.

In his career, David has held a number of external governance positions: Director of Mercury, Director of Vodafone Events Centre, Deputy Chair of the Committee for Auckland, Chairman of the Advisory Board for University of Auckland Business School, NZ Real Estate Institute and Chair of Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).

David has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from Canterbury University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago.

He is a Fellow to the Institute of Professional Engineers. In 2006, David received the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leadership Award and, in 2008, a prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship.

David stepped into the role of Managing Director for McConnell Property from December 2018 through to June 2023.
