McConnell Property is excited to announce they have partnered with Icon Construction for the development of the Lorne Street heritage building, Campbell House. This impressive new 18-storey student accommodation project includes an adaptive reuse of the heritage-listed building which will be repurposed into student amenities and commercial spaces, with apartments above.

Work on this ambitious new project began on May 29 with the redevelopment scheduled to be completed in October 2025. The apartment tower will feature 758 best-in-class student living quarters designed to Greenstar 5 star standard.

 

McConnell Property has managed this project from inception; selecting and managing the design team, managing the Resource Consents, and the procurement and appointment of the head contractor. Now that work has begun, their in-house project management team will oversee every aspect of delivery – from concept and feasibility to delivery/construction. Project Director Tony McKee says, “This is an exciting development in an incredible central city location, we are delighted that the development will re-use and repurpose the existing heritage building, and we will be able give it a new life as a quality student accommodation building across the road from AUT”.
