While preserving the aesthetics of the 1929 heritage building, this ambitious new development takes student accommodation into the future.

 

Physical work has only just begun at the Lorne Street site, but once finished it will feature 758 best-in-class student living quarters designed to Greenstar 5-star standard. The existing heritage structure will form part of the entrance to the building, with student amenities and commercial spaces, and the studio apartments above.

Work on this ambitious central city project began on May 29 with the redevelopment scheduled to be completed in October 2025, working with newly appointed Icon Construction for the development. McConnell Property will oversee every aspect of delivery; from initial feasibility assessments, managing the design and Resource Consent process, and now into procurement of prefabricated bathroom pods.
